EYE! If you apply heat with a flame directly to the metal of the spoon, you will burn it.

Ideally, you should apply it indirectly, keeping the flame a little away from the spoon.

To clean it, do it while the wax is still melted, using a piece of paper to remove it, a washcloth or a damp cloth.
