HOT EMBOSSING - SCRAPBOOKING TECHNIQUES
One of the latest novelties that have landed on the web has been the embossing powders from Moxy.
And we have not realized that until now we had not dedicated a post explaining what it is and showing the products that you can find in the store.
So we start at the beginning:
What is hot embossing?
It is a technique used in scrapbooking to create backgrounds and/or embossed decorations in our work and always give it a different touch.
What material do we need to do embossing?
- a specific slow-drying ink with which powders are adhered to the surface.
On the web you can find it in its two modalities: in pad like the rest of the inks and in pen .

In pad , it is used like the rest of the inks.
In pen , it allows us to do what we want and for lovers of lettering and good cartoonists it is a great option!!
- embossing powders , which are the ones that make the volume effect once mixed with the ink and giving them heat.
On the web there are several brands with a variety of colors and finishes (opaque, glitter, ...) to choose from:

and the last to join, Moxy

- a heat gun with which we melt the powders by applying heat directly to them.
- in the case of using the ink in pad, we will also need some nice stamps and methacrylate blocks .

Once we have everything we need, we get to work!
How is the hot embossing technique done?
With the Tag Punch Board we have prepared some tags to use as the embossing surface.

** Before starting, we recommend placing a sheet of paper underneath (if it is folded better) to make it easier for us to recover the powders and put them back into the pot.

1.- We choose the stamp and stamp it using embossing ink.

2.- As it dries slowly, it allows us to apply the embossing powders so that they adhere to the surface. But you don't have to let a lot of time pass and dry either.
Do not hesitate to put powder on top of the stamp, it is preferable that you spend part of the stamp without it and the embossing is not achieved perfectly.

We remove the excess powder from the surface by shaking it over the folded sheet and/or using a brush in the most difficult areas, and we reintroduce it into the pot.

3.- Finally, we heat it directly with the gun, and you will see how the powders change color and take on volume. That is the moment when you should stop.

These are some of the tags that we have prepared and decorated with the Gal Meets Glam collection

We hope you found it interesting and put it into practice!!
